The Church Officers are the Moderator, the Treasurer, the Financial Secretary (if applicable) and the Clerk. The church officers shall be active members who are regular church attendees and are accountable to the congregation and the Church Council.
The Moderator
The Moderator shall serve as the President of the Corporation, be an active member and regular church attendee nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by a majority vote at the annual October congregational meeting for a ters of two (2) years, not to exceed three (3) consecutive terms. The Moderator may not be a member of any standing committee.
Moderator Responsibilities
Set the agenda for the Church Council and congregational meetings with input from the congregation and to preside over Church Council and congregational meetings
Shall have voting privileges only in the case of a tie vote at Church Council and congregational meetings.
Together with the Treasurer, to execute deeds, mortgages, bonds, notes, real estate contracts and other significant legal documents after the approval of the Church Council and the congregation, except for the routine day-to-day business operations of the church.
To call an annual January congregational meeting to be held on the first or second Sunday of that month for the purpose of approving the year’s operation budget as prepared and presented by the Finance Committee and approved by the Church Council.
To accept, in writing, any By-Law amendments.
The Treasurer
The Treasurer shall serve as the Treasurer of the Corporation, be an active member and regular Church attendee nominated by teh Nominating Committee and elected at the annual October Congregational Meeting for a term of two (2) years, not to exceed three (3) consecutive terms.
The Treasurer has full voting privileges on the Church Council and the Finance Committee
The Treasurer, together with the Moderator, shall execute deeds, mortgages, bonds, notes, real estate contracts, and other significant legal documents after the approval of the Church Council and the congregation, except for the routine day-to-day business of the church.
The Treasurer will use the prior year’s budget until the new budget is approved.
The Treasurer may serve on a Standing or Special Committee, but not as its chairperson.
The Financial Secretary
The Financial Secretary (if applicable) serves as the Assistant Treasurer of the Corporation , be an active member and regular Church attendee nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected at the annual October Congregational Meeting for a term of two (2) years, not to exceed three (3) consecutive terms.
The Financial Secretary shall have full voting privileges on the Church Council and the Finance Committee.
In the temporary absence of the Treasurer, the Financial Sescretary(if applicable) shall assume all the duties of the Treasurer.
The Financial Secretary (if applicable) may serve on a Standing or Special Committee, but not as its chairperson.
The Clerk
The Clerk serves as the Secretary of the Corporation, be an active member and regular church attendee nominated by the Nominating Committee and elected by a majority vote at the annual October Congregational Meeting for a term of two (2) years, not to exceed three (3) consecutive Terms.
The Clerk has full voting privileges on the Church Council
In the absence of the Clerk, the Moderator shall appoint any Church Council member to record the meeting minutes with voting privileges.
The Clerk may serve on a Standing or Special Committee, but not as its chairperson.
